Honda Motor Co. on Friday said it is recalling another 440,000 cars because of a potential airbag defect. The recall covers certain 2001 and 2002 Accords, 2001 Civics and some 2002 and 2003 model Acura TL sedans.Honda announced its initial recall in November.Honda said that in some cars, the airbag inflators on the driver's side can rupture during deployment because of too much air pressure, which can cause metal fragments to shoot through the airbag and hit vehicle occupants.Honda spokesman Chris Noughtan told CNN the potential defect has resulted in six known injuries and one known death.Registered owners of cars that could contain the affected inflators will receive a recall notice in the mail in the next few months. Owners may also check their vehicle's recall status by visiting the Honda Web site at www.owners.honda.com/recalls.
