Chicago Auto Show Features Subdued Debuts
Automakers More Low Key With New Models, Redesigns

CHICAGO -- The 2010 Chicago Auto Show opens to the public this weekend with some new models and concepts, and some updates to existing models.It's no secret that the automotive industry has been hurting in the last couple of years, and that's evident at exhibits like the Chicago Auto Show.While previous years may have featured many new model reveals, this year's affair is much more subdued.Here's a look at some of the new things going on at the Chicago Auto Show:
| 2011 Chevrolet Silverado HDHD stands for Heavy Duty and Chevrolet means it with their new Silverado HD for 2011. The truck sits on an all-new chassis that is more rigid than past models. And powering the beast is a massive 6.6-liter engine. |
| 2011 Chevrolet Suburban Diamond EditionThe popular Chevrolet Suburban truck is turning 75 and Chevrolet is celebrating with a special Diamond Edition for 2011. The truck features a special cashmere interior, distinctive wheels and paint, and special edition badges. |
| 2011 Ford EdgeThe popular Ford Edge crossover is getting a significant facelift for 2011. Though not an all-new model, the new car features a heavily restyled front end and interior along with other improvements. More Details |
| 2011 Ford Transit ConnectThe Ford Transit Connect utility van carries over from the 2010 model year, but two new versions are expected to go on sale for 2011.On Wednesday, Ford introduced an all-electric version of the van. It's capable of going up to 75 mph and can travel about 80 miles on a single charge. |
| Ford also took the opportunity to show of a taxi version of the Transit Connect. The taxi can be powered by a number of sources, including compressed natural gas. |
| 2011 Ford Shelby GT500The beefiest Ford Mustang is getting a little beefier for 2011. The new Shelby GT500 sports a 550 horsepower all-aluminum engine. More Details |
| 2011 Honda Odyssey ConceptHonda used the 2010 Chicago Auto Show to show off a concept version of the upcoming 2011 Honda Odyssey minivan. Though not exactly like the production model, you can expect the 2011 model to look almost exactly like the concept. More Details |
| Kia Ray ConceptKia showed off its designers' talents with their Ray Concept car. The car is designed to be a hybrid, but is not currently slated for production. More Details |
| 2011 Toyota AvalonIn spite of problems with recent recalls, Toyota says it's committed to providing safe new products to its customers. Company executives point to the 2011 Toyota Avalon as an example of the company's determination to build better products. Though still recognizable as an Avalon, the 2011 model introduces freshened styling and several new comforts inside. More Details |
