Virginia High School Ranked No. 1 For 3rd-Straight Year

Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Virginia is America's No. 1 high school for the third year in a row, according to a report conducted by U.S. News & World Report.The magazine ranked high schools nationwide by weighing factors such as college readiness and test scores.The International Academy Bloomfield Hills in Michigan was ranked the second-best high school and Whitney High School in California ranked third.According to the magazine's Web site, almost 22,000 public high schools were evaluated, and 1,750 were recognized for considerably outperforming their state standards.California lead the nation with 110 high schools that earned recognition, followed by New York (53 schools), Texas (50 schools) and Illinois (37 schools).State by state statistics and more information on the magazine's methodology can be seen on the U.S. News & World Report Web site.
