Town Of Vulcan Lobbies For 'Star Trek' Premiere
Movie Storyline Involves Young, Old Spock

CALGARY, Alberta -- Some Trekkers in the tiny Canadian town of Vulcan think it only makes sense that the premiere of the new "Star Trek" movie should be there.That's because "Star Trek XI" includes a storyline about the young Spock, who's from the planet Vulcan.In the film, directed by "Lost" creator and "Mission Impossible III" director J.J. Abrams, the character will be played by "Heroes" villain Zachary Quinto.Leonard Nimoy, who played Spock on the classic "Star Trek" television series and some of the movies in the "Trek" franchise, also has a role as the older Spock in the film.The Canadian Press said the movement to get the film premiere in Vulcan is serious.Members of the Alberta Film Commission will take Vulcan's proposal to an industry meeting in Los Angeles later this year."Star Trek XI" is scheduled to be released Christmas Day 2008.
