Mystery Cam: Fighting The Munchies
Confessions Of A Junk-Food Animal
After a week of immersion in all the matters surrounding the fast-food lawsuit, I've got a North Dakota-sized case of the munchies. At this point, I'd probably lick the salt out of a Pringles can.
That's the problem, though. I don't HAVE a Pringles can ... or ANY kind of munchies for that matter. My wife's decided we're going to eat healthy, and there's not so much as a Slim Jim to be had.
Wait, what's this? Looks like a dusty box in the back of the pantry. It's never been opened. It's ... microwave pork rinds? Now THERE is a frightening concept. What's more frightening is that I don't remember buying them. I do all the house grocery shopping, and I never put these in the cart. Were they planted here? Did they migrate? Am I having blackouts again?
Let's see. Three minutes in the microwave and I should have a bagful of piping hot spicy pork rinds. What have I got to lose?
***FIVE MINUTES PASS***
Well, on the good side, I don't have the munchies anymore. On the bad side, the entire house now smells like burned, styrofoam-like pig skin. Yummy.
Don't think for a moment that my munchies were cured by actually ingesting any of the microwaved pork rinds. My nose vetoed my mouth's impulse to actually eat any of the grayish morsels, and the bag and box went into the trash posthaste.
I guess it's carrot sticks and apple slices again. *sigh*
Now, this week's Mystery Cam location is the home of one of my very favorite munchies. Any guesses yet?
Last Week
In last week's column, the sniffly Ms. Bobendrier took us off to Vyborg, Russia, an international harbor that mingles the cultures of Russia, Finland and Sweden. The lucky winners were Nancy Deet, JoAnn Abt and Bill McQuillan. Congratulations!

This Week
This week's Mystery Cam location is, as mentioned, famous for my favorite munchie. It's also home to a museum dedicated to my favorite musical instrument, the kazoo. It's close to the snowiest locales in the United States, and well-known for winter sports in general. "X-Files" fans have heard of this city in a famous episode.
That should be more than enough to get you going. Check the Netcam links at left to narrow down your choices, and send in your guess!
As usual, the first three folks in the door with the correct answer will be immortalized in next week's column. Good luck!
