Actor Gary Coleman is charged with reckless driving and disorderly conduct after he allegedly backed into a fan's car with his truck after an argument, according to People magazine.

According to the site, Coleman was charged with the misdemeanors Wednesday over the alleged altecation at a Salt Lake City, Utah, bowling alley on Sept. 6.

"Mr. Coleman was notified today (Wednesday) of the charges through his attorney," Lt. Bill Wright of the Payson, Utah, Police Department told People. "(Coleman) never spoke to us about what happened, but we gathered evidence after speaking to witnesses and the other party involved."

Wright also told People that witnesses claimed that the "Diff'rent Strokes" child star became irritated that Colt Ruston, 24, took the former child star's photo at a bowling alley, and that an argument between the two was carried outside.

Coleman, 40, is accused of backing out of the bowling alley parking lot and hitting Rushton's car and another vehicle with his truck.

Ruston was reportedly treated at a hospital with minor injuries and has since filed a suit against Coleman that seeks damages for medical bills, pain and suffering and punitive damages.

"This wasn't a situation of paparazzi or 'stalker-razzi'; this was a fan snapping two photographs with a cell phone," Rushton's attorney, Dustin Lance, said in a statement.
