Donald Duck Gets Hollywood Star
Disney Character Is 70 Years Old

We're not quacking any jokes here the Donald Duck now has his very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.The famed Walt Disney animated character was awarded the 2,257th star on the Walk of Fame Tuesday in front of the Disney Store/El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Blvd. in Los Angeles.According to Disney, the celebration came in conjunction with the character's 70th birthday. The event was attended by Johnny Grant, the honorary Mayor of Hollywood and chairman of the Walk of Fame Committee, Leron Gubler, the President/CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce and Michael Eisner, CEO of the Walt Disney Co.And, of course, Mickey Mouse was there, too, along with Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Daisy Duck and Pluto.Donald Duck first appeared in the Silly Symphonies cartoon "The Wise Little Hen" on June 9, 1934. First known as Don Donald, the character who eventually became Donald Duck was originally drawn by animator Dick Lundy.Clarence "Ducky" Nash was his voice for 51 years and now Disney animator Tony Anselmo provides Donald's voice.
