It's not life-sized, but the latest footprint on the Hollywood Walk of Fame belongs to Godzilla.

The honor came Monday -- 50 years after the horror flick icon stomped onto movie screens.

The recognition is also part hype. Godzilla's latest film,"Godzilla: Final Wars," premiered just hours after the ceremony. It was the 2,271st bronze-edged star to be placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

"Godzilla: Final Wars” director Ryuhei Kitamura and the film's producer, Shogo Tomiyama, helped unveil the star at L.A.'s famed Grauman’s Chinese Theatre.

“Godzilla should thank you for this historical and monumental star,” said Tomiyama, who was accompanied an actor dressed in a Godzilla costume breathed fire over the star. “But unfortunately, he cannot speak English."

The nuclear-spawned monster made his debut in Japanese theaters in November, 1954.

A version starring Raymond Burr made it to theaters in the U.S. two years later.

"Godzilla: Final Wars" is the 29th Godzilla film.
