Celebrity Chatter: Nicole's Urban Ring Has People Talking
Kidman's Country Crooner Boyfriend May Be Getting Serious
POSTED: 1:27 pm CST November 21, 2005
Everyone's buzzing about the ring Nicole Kidman was seen wearing in a paparazzi photo. Rumor has it was a silver band on her wedding finger and possibly a gift from beau Keith Urban. It was People Magazine that said Kidman was photographed in Boston with Urban by her side and that she was wearing the ring.Urban, a fellow Aussie, and Kidman have been rumored as a couple since they were seen on a number of occasions beginning last July. Most recently, Kidman was spotted at country music star Urban's concert in my former haunt of Albany, N.Y., where he was performing. Insiders said she looked mesmerized while watching from a seat close to the stage. So can we expect couch jumping soon and Kidman yodeling, "I love this man" on national television, a la her former husband, Tom Cruise?Urban's representatives are keeping mum on the ring and Keith and Nicky's relationship. "When and if there's a statement, we'll make that public," they said.Meanwhile, not only is Urban dating one of the sexiest women alive, he's been named one of the Sexiest Men Alive by People. Way to go, Keith.Speaking of music and movie stars, David Bowie may be going back to the big screen. The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Bowie is interested in playing inventor Nikola Tesla in "The Prestige." "Batman Begins" helmer Christopher Nolan would direct the film.Meanwhile, Jessica Simpson has been bitten by the movie acting bug since starring in "Dukes of Hazzard" in last summer's hit. The Hollywood Reporter is also reporting that Simpson could be appearing in "Employee of the Month," a film about a cashier at a discount store. And you must have heard about Access Hollywood's Billy Bush and his brush with Jessica and Jessica's dad, Joe, who fired off an e-mail to Bush for not sticking to questions about the singer's shoe line during a 30-minute interview.I, too, have been in interviews where you are asked to not ask any personal questions. Like the time I interviewed Liza Minnelli and was told I couldn't ask her any questions about her mother, Judy Garland. Or the very funny interview I had with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jude Law who wanted to talk all about what I knew about Jack White of the White Stripes and his scuffle with a member of another band at a club in Detroit. I had to veer them into talking about the movie I was interviewing them for, "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow."Then there was Bette Midler who you could ask just about anything. The woman would've signed the album I've had since I was in 7th grade had I remembered to bring it.Kidman was just a doll, too, giving me one of the most memorable interview lines of my career. When I was interviewing her for "The Stepford Wives" and not too long after her break up with Tom Cruise, I asked her what she thought constituted the perfect wife. She looked right into the television camera and said, "Darned if I know. Can someone tell me?"So Jessica Simpson could probably take a question or two about the rumors of her breakup to Nic Lachey.Billy Bush hit the nail on the head when he said this:"I like Jessica Simpson a lot, and I admire Joe too...he's worked hard to help her get where she is. But, let's not forget how she got to this point. The marriage is what they sold to America and America bought it in droves," he wrote on his Access Hollywood blog.Celebrities should remember how they got to where they are and when they want to hawk a product line, they've got to give something back, too.
