'Wallace & Gromit' Tops Annie Awards

GLENDALE, Calif. -- Hunks of hand-crafted clay crushed modern computer-animated images at the 33rd annual Annie Awards Saturday, honoring achievements in feature film and television animation."Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit" took the prize for Best Feature production.The film beat the computer-animated films "Chicken Little" from Walt Disney and "Madagascar."Also in the running for the top prize were Tim Burton's stop-motion animated "Corpse Bride" and hand-drawn anime feature "Howl's Moving Castle."The Annie Awards are presented by The International Animated Film Society."Wallace & Gromit" is in the running for the Best Animated Feature Oscar, along with "Corpse Bride" and "Howl's Moving Castle.""Wallace & Gromit" also captured Best Director honors for Nick Park and Steve Box, and won for Best Music and Best Writing.The award for Best Voice Acting in an Animated Feature was British actor Peter Sallis, who turned 85 on Feb. 1.He's been supplying Wallace's voice since Park began making movies as a film school student.
