When students know that summer is nearly here, they start to get excited about the dream of months without school and work. It becomes really hard for students to get their priorities straight.

Many have finished applying to colleges, and some have gotten into the college they want to attend. The summer looms, as does the thought of true freedom. Of course, this is just a mirage. Students have to be kept on the right course during this tumultuous time.

The urge to get out of school is a frequent feeling among high school students, especially seniors. According to Collegeboard.com, they may even slack off for the entire 12th grade year. How can parents prevent their children from falling prey to high school burnout?

Help Students Learn To Manage Time

High school students are some of the busiest people in the world. If students know how to budget their time, they can save a lot of it, and discover that they don't get as burned out as other students. According to Dartmouth University, time management skills have several benefits including motivation and anxiety reduction, which are crucial for preventing burnout.

Learning to budget time is an essential skill not only for college life, but also for living in general, and will help your student become a better citizen and a more efficient worker.

Sports And Activities

According to Collegeboard.com, sports and extracurricular activities provide meaningful options for career choices and serve as resume-ready activities. Sports are especially important as they provide exercise for fitness and health, help students to stay motivated, and provide a means to cultivate friendships.

Talk To Students

A big part of high school burnout comes from a lack of support. High school seniors get burned out from their academic and social lives. Sometimes they may turn to parents for guidance.

According to Kaboose.com, stress from work and peer pressures are a big component to burnout. Sometimes just talking students through their troubles is the best way to alleviate stress.

Share Activities

Taking your student camping or on a vacation can be a great way to help him or her divert attention away from any burnout they may be feeling. According to FamilyEducation.com, anything can be a great activity so long as it brings a family together. In fact, this will not only help students with burnout, but also it will promote filial connections.
