An elderly couple in Lewiston, Maine, decided it was finally time to make their courtship official -- after 17 years of dating.

Paul Walker, 88, and Ann Thayer, 87, became husband and wife Tuesday when they were married at the rehabilitation center where Walker currently resides, the Sun-Journal reported.

According to the publication, the couple met at church in 1994, and decided to wed in front of their families and friends after some good-natured pestering from hospital staff.

It's the second marriage for each, but they don't plan on resting on their laurels -- the couple told the newspaper that they have been planning to honeymoon in Bermuda.
