An Australian woman born without a uterus will undergo a transplant to receive her mother's womb in hopes of giving birth.Melinda Arnold, a 34-year-old intensive care nurse, twice tried unsuccessfully to use her mother as a surrogate. Adoption attempts also failed, the Telegraph reported.Arnold's mother, Denise Allen, said she worries about the risks, but knows her daughter is determined."She was three years old when she first expressed a desire to be a mother," Allen told the Telegraph. "It has been a long journey and both she and Andy have suffered a lot of sadness and disappointment."The couple has been married 12 years. While this is not the first attempt at a human uterus transplant, none have resulted in successful pregnancies.Arnold would need to wait 12 months after the transplant before attempting a pregnancy through IVF.The mother and daughter are expected to undergo the transplant sometime next year.
