How would you like to lose one pound of fat every two or three days, and not be hungry?WCAU-TV in Philadelphia recently interviewed three women who had dramatic weight-loss results on the cookie diet.
"I felt like a sausage in my clothes," said one participant. Most participants lose between 12 and 15 pounds per month on the cookie diet, eating six cookies during the daytime and then a dinner of 6 ounces of protein and 2 cups of vegetables, the television station reported."It was hard for the first couple of days, I'll be honest with you, but it becomes easier and it becomes my way of life," Robyn said."You do the diet and it works," Nancy said. It's part of the Siegal Weight Management program, which has offered the cookie diet in Miami for 40 years. The cookies have a blend of fibers, protein and amino acids that naturally suppress your appetite. So the cookies help to fill you up.The cookies come in oatmeal raisin, chocolate and coconut. They don't taste like Famous Amos, but what makes them more palatable is the average person on the cookie diet loses one pound of fat every two or three days. But experts say the cookies are only a small part of the diet. The Siegal Center has also come out with a shake and a soup that has the same appetite-suppressant properties as the cookies.Dr. Scott Greenberg, of the Magaziner Center for Wellness & Anti-Aging Medicine in Cherry Hill, N.J., said each dieter gets a full medical exam for $250, followed by $100 monthly exams. The cookies cost $4 a day."Obesity is a medical condition and should be treated by medical professionals," Greenberg says."But eating only 800 calories a day isn't enough. And most will gain it right back," said Dr. Albert Stunkard, of the Weight And Eating Disorders Program at the University Of Pennsylvania. "The lower the calories a person is eating and the more rapidly they lose weight, the more rapidly they regain it."But right now, the women are thrilled.Lillian lost 30 pounds in two months. Robyn lost 15 pounds in only one month. And Nancy lost 36 pounds in 2½ months. Was it worth giving up their favorite foods?"Nothing tastes as good as thin feels," Robyn said.
