Breakfast Fuels Your Body

The day after Thanksgiving is the busiest shopping day of the year, and a good time to get in a solid day's aerobic activity. If you're heading out to the mall, grab your shopping list, put on your walking shoes and eat a good breakfast.

Start your day off right with carbohydrates for energy and protein for sustained energy.

Consider the following breakfast ideas:

  • Cereal topped with yogurt and fruit.
  • Whole-grain toast with peanut or soy nut butter with a glass of milk.
  • A leftover turkey and cranberry sauce sandwich.
  • Scrambled eggs, toast and fruit.

Stay hydrated during the day by drinking two cups of water, juice, coffee or tea at breakfast. Take a bottle of water along with you. Carry peanut butter crackers, dried fruit or a cereal bar to nibble on between meals.

For lunch, refuel with more carbohydrates and protein and again, plenty of water. With a plan for fuel and hydration, you'll be prepared for a good day of shopping.
