How To Install A Ceiling Fan
Cool Your Home Cheaply
One inexpensive way to effectively control the climate of your home is to install a ceiling fan. Most ceiling fans only use as much power as a 100-watt light bulb. By opening windows and getting proper circulation, a ceiling fan can make a room feel significantly cooler.Hardware stores are stacked with models in just about every price range. Find a ceiling fan that meets both your family's needs and taste. After you've purchased your ceiling fan, follow these basic steps to install it. At any point if you have questions or unsure on how to proceed, re-read the instructions or consult a professional.
- The first and most important step is to turn off the power at your fuse box. You want to live to enjoy the ceiling fan. Start by slowly removing the old fixture. Always take your time on any electrical project. Next, install the mounting bracket for the new fan. Then you'll attach the base of the canopy. Guide the motor wires through the canopy, and then attach the canopy to the motor housing. Then take the assembly and hook it to a mounting bracket for hands-free wiring.Wiring may seem a little complicated, but it's fairly simple. White wires attach to white wires, black on black. The green wire is for grounding. The blue wire goes to the light switch, if there's a light with the fan.Make sure to cap off all of the wires securely before finishing the job. Then it's time to secure the canopy to the ceiling. Again, go slow and make sure you don't force anything. After that, it's time to secure the fan blades ... and you're done.
