How To Replace A Doornob
Replacing a doorknob? It's pretty much a matter of out with old, and in the new. It's very easy, and you'll be surprised how quickly this project can get done.
- First, remove the old hardware. In many cases, that means taking a Phillips screwdriver and taking off the faceplate on the inside handle.Pull the doorknobs apart and remove them from the door.Take a screwdriver and remove the latch assembly. Be gentle -- you don't want to force anything or damage the door.Put the new latch assembly in. You might have to chisel the opening a bit so it fits properly.Take the doorknob with the lock on the knob, make sure it's facing the inside of the roomm, and slide that through the lock assembly.Take the other knob and match it on the other side of the door. Screw them both together.Screw them both together by holding the two knobs in place with one hand and inserting the long screws in each hole with the other.Your kit will also come with a strikeplate. Just take off the old one, and replace it with the new.
