How To Fix A Sticky Door

Another very common household annoyance is a sticky door. Luckily, a few simple steps can make it like new.
  1. First, determine where the door is sticking. A lot of time the problem is at the bottom of the door.

  2. Take the door off the hinges for an easy repair.

  3. Start by scoring the cut line with a razor knife. That'll limit chipping – especially when you're working with a veneer door.

  4. Saw to remove a bit of wood and even things out.

  5. Here's a little trick: Clamp down a straight edge to keep your line consistent.

  6. Take your time. Wear safety glasses. Watch your fingers -- and your power cord.

  7. When you're done, protect the wood with a coat of varnish or paint.

  8. Put it back on the hinges, and enjoy.
