What Are Best Cities For Working Moms?

For working mothers, New York is the top spot, according to ForbesWoman’s inaugural list of the “Best Cities For Working Mothers.”

ForbesWoman ranked 50 of the largest U.S metropolitan areas by categories that included earnings, unemployment, cost of living, violent and property crimes, health care, per-capita expenditure per pupil, the number of day cares and preschools, and park acreage.

“There are numerous considerations for what working moms want in their choice of a city,” ForbesWoman writer Heidi Brown, who edited the list, said in a news release. “We based our rankings on the premise that different mothers have different needs.”

Austin, Texas, was No. 2 on the list, followed by Minneapolis/St. Paul at No. 3. Milwaukee was No. 4 and Portland was fifth. Cincinnati, San Jose, Pittsburgh, Seattle/Tacoma and Denver rounded out the top 10.
