Male Maids Strip Off More Than Stains

PHOENIX -- A new brand of maid service has many Arizona customers taking a second look, KPHO-TV reported.

The service advertises jockstrap-clad men who clean homes in more than 40 cities across the U.S., including Phoenix.

Marlene Binnion needed her house cleaned and a friend offered to help.

"He said, ‘You've got a birthday coming up and I'm going to send you a present,’" Binnion said. "He said, ‘I'm going to have Nate come out and clean your home.' "

Binnion said she didn’t know what to expect. When her doorbell rang, she met Nate Wise.

"I was a swimmer and a dancer so I'm used to having exposure," Wise said about his skimpy attire.

Wise, who works in real estate sales, said he was looking for extra money in a down economy so he decided to take a crack at cleaning.

“It's been a lot of fun,” Wise said. “I clean in my underwear at home so now I'm getting paid for it."

Wise is one of four "man-maids" in Arizona who work for Jockstrap Maid Service. The clientele, which ranges from bachelorette parties to happily married women like Binnion, is growing.

"It might be a little uncomfortable if my husband comes home,” Binnion said. “I don't know what he'd think about it.”

From dusting to scrubbing bathrooms, windows and floors, the cleaning package is up to the client.

"It just depends on what you need done,” Wise said. “A simple little cleaning, you can do it in a hour. More in-depth cleaning could take a few hours."

Binnion said she just might hire Wise to be her regular maid. She said she'll definitely recommend him to friends.

"Isn't this neat that women now have something that's pleasurable and you get your house cleaned at the same time?" she asked. "Have a glass of wine and enjoy."

The cost for the service is about $50 an hour.
