Vegas Q&A: Where Can I See Elvis?

Question: Hi Rick. First of all, I just want to tell you that I love your column. I read it every week. My family and I will be in Vegas over the Thanksgiving holiday, and my 8-year-old son wants to see an Elvis show. Is there one that you can recommend?

Ask Rick

Answer: Hi, Laura. First, thanks for the kind e-mail. It's always nice to hear from people who are reading the stuff that I write and enjoying it.

Now, on to Elvis. There is only one show that is all about Elvis -- The Dream King at the Boardwalk Holiday Inn. I've never actually seen it, but I've heard that it's decent entertainment, especially if you are an Elvis fan. You can get more information from the Boardwalk Web site by clicking here: http://www.hiboardwalk.com/entertain.html.

After that, you must to go the Elvis-A-Rama Museum, located on Industrial Road behind Treasure Island. They have tons of exhibits of both legitimate and totally arcane memorabilia, and shows throughout the day. I'm not an Elvis fan at all (please, no hate mail) and I really enjoyed myself. True Elvis fans should put this on this list of "must-sees."

Check out their Web site at http://www.elvisarama.com/.

Finally, if your kid is a real Elvis fanatic, you may want to go visit the Elvis statue at the Las Vegas Hilton. Back in the days when the hotel was known as The International, it was the home to Elvis' shows, and they have a life-size bronze statue of him in the lobby. Probably not worth going out of your way for, but if you're in the neighborhood, why not?

There are also Elvis impersonators in most of the celebrity impersonator shows like Legends in Concert and American Superstars, but they are one of many and the above options are better for pure Elvis entertainment.

Hope all this helps -- have a great time. Let us know how it goes.
