Billy Crystal Scores Comedy Nod
Comedian To Be Honored At Weeklong Festival
The seventh annual yukfest will once again take place in Aspen, bowing Feb. 28 and running through March 4, organizers told Daily Variety on Tuesday.
The weeklong event serves as a showcase for talent and a one-stop shopping market for agents and programmers seeking fresh comic blood.
Details on the lineup of seminars and other events planned for the festival will be announced over the next few months.
Last year's fest resulted in several TV holding and development deals, including those for Ralph Harris and Candy Ford. More than 40 percent of the feature pictures screened at the festival were picked up for various forms of distribution.
Crystal's credits include the mob pic hit "Analyze This," "City Slickers," "When Harry Met Sally ..." and "Forget Paris." He's also a six-time Emmy winner.
Previous AFI Star honorees include Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David, Robin Williams, Steve Martin, Monty Python, Rob Reiner and Albert Brooks.
