I'll Take The Batmobile For ...

Original Batmobile To Headline Celebrity Cars At 'The Auction'

One lucky bidder may be driving home this weekend in one of the original Batmobiles created for the hit 1960s television series "Batman."

The Auction, one of the world's foremost collector car events, is taking place this Saturday and Sunday at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino, located on the Strip.

At this fall 2000 edition of The Auction, the Batmobile will be one of several celebrity cars placed on the auction block. Among the more interesting cars will be Sylvester Stallone's 1958 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe and a pair of Stutz Blackhawk coupes owned by two legends, Sammy Davis Jr. and Evel Knievel.

One of the most spectacular cars to come under the auctioneer's hammer will be the candelabra-decorated Zimmer coupe formerly owned by Mr. Showmanship himself, Liberace.

The auction will also showcase a one-of-a-kind Rolls Royce, bulletproof limousine painted in a most unusual color scheme for the cult religious leader Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh.

More than 400 collector cars are expected to be auctioned off, beginning at 10 a.m., in the back parking lot of the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino. Doors open at 8 a.m. both days, Oct. 28 and 29.
