Vegas Q&A: Who Has The Coolest Pool?
Question: I am a first-time visitor to Las Vegas. There are four of us going, and we want to stay in a hotel that offers the best pool amenities in town. What hotels would you recommend and why?

I've actually answered this one before in my column, but a new hotel and some revisits to older ones have changed my opinion on the subject so I thought it was time for an update.
Green Valley Ranch Station has what I believe is the most beautiful, scenic and well-equipped pool area in all of Vegas. This new, upscale resort features a huge recreation area overlooking the entire city and a stunning and large pool with waterfalls, a separate sandy beach pool, several smaller wading pools, a bar area with gaming, a full spa, tennis courts, bocce ball courts, a full spa, a vineyard, an outdoor amphitheatre, lots of green lawns, and really cool "Opium Beds" that feature private lounging with televisions and Internet access. It really is a cool pool area.
I also enjoyed the Stratosphere's new pool deck, which is on the eighth floor, above the casino. Since it's at the south end of the building, it offers amazing views of the entire Las Vegas Strip, plus the landscaping and large facilities make it a nice place to spend some lounging time.
Of course the old standbys still hold up, with the Mirage and its dense tropical foliage, waterfalls, and jungle theme elements being the best, followed closely by the Flamingo with similar tropical settings and Luxor's gigantic five-pool area.
