'Shaft' Gets His Star
Jackson Joins Hundreds Of Stars On Hollywood Walk Of Fame
Samuel L. Jackson received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame Friday.
Johnny Wright, Hollywood's honorary mayor, proclaimed the day as Samuel L. Jackson Day when he presented the actor, whose latest film "Shaft" opened Friday, with a plaque and unveiled his Walk of Fame star.
The Chattanoga, Tenn., native thanked his mother for taking him to see countless films in their small-town theater: "Whenever I could possibly be there, I'd go with her also to see really good adult films and not just the kiddy fare.
"It never crossed my mind that my name would be a part of this, even when I got into the (movie) business."
