  • Doohan, who played the Starship Enterprise's engineer Scotty, and wife Wende, 43, are expecting their third child this spring. The news comes just weeks before Doohan's 80th birthday.

Agent Steve Stevens told reporters the pregnancy was an accident, but the couple is "thrilled."

The baby, a girl, is due April 1. Doohan will turn 80 March 3.

Doohan and his wife already have two sons, ages 21 and 23.

According to Reuters, the Canadian-born actor, who now lives near Seattle, recently signed a deal to serve as a spokesman for a new online bill-paying service. Doohan also has a lead role in a film, "The Duke," scheduled for release this summer.

"I guess he's still beaming it up," Stevens said.
