Seinfeld Weds On Christmas Day

Couple Used Decoy Limo To Keep Ceremony Private

Jerry Seinfeld wed Jessica Sklar Christmas night, in a quiet Jewish ceremony attended by family and friends.

Seinfeld And Bride

News leaked of 45-year-old Seinfeld's engagement to 28-year-old public relations executive Sklar this past November. Seinfeld -- whose television persona was famous for avoiding commitment by finding flaws with each woman he dated -- traded vows in a private penthouse loft in Manhattan's East Village, according to the New York Post.

Since the news of his engagement, hints that the wedding would come before year's end left the news media camping out on Seinfeld's sidewalk as Dec. 31 approached. By using a decoy limousine, the bride and groom managed to keep the press in the dark regarding the night of the ceremony.

In order to maintain secrecy, Seinfeld told friends to wait by the phone yesterday for instruction on when and where the wedding would take place, the newspaper said.

Comedian George Wallace played the part of best man, but absent from the ceremony were the "Seinfeld" cast -- including Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Michael Richards.

Seinfeld's private love life has been chronicled in the tabloids ever since his five-year relationship with Shoshanna Lonstein began. She was 16 when they started dating.

His relationship with Sklar has been just as controversial ever since they were first spotted together last summer; Sklar had just returned from her honeymoon with Broadway producer Eric Nederlander. The couple divorced shortly thereafter.

According to reports, Sklar wore an empire-waisted ivory Tommy Hilfiger slip dress with spagetti straps, while Seinfeld wore the traditional black tux.

The couple's honeymoon plans are also being kept quiet.
