Tim McGraw Leads Country Music Nominees

NASHVILLE, Posted 9:29 a.m. August 3, 1999 -- Tim McGraw has been nominated for seven Country Music Association awards, leading the way for the rest of country music's finest.
In one category, McGraw will try to unseat Garth Brooks as the CMA's entertainer of the year. McGraw's other nominations include best male vocalist, best album and best single.
The other nominees for entertainer of the year are George Strait, Shania Twain and the Dixie Chicks.
Vince Gill will also host the show for the eighth straight year. He's also nominated for five awards this year.
The nominees for best female vocalist are Shania Twain, Faith Hill, Martina McBride, Jo Dee Messina and Trisha Yearwood.
Winners will be announced on Sept. 22 in Nashville at the Grand Ole Opry House.
