The George Clooney starrer made $41.7 million between its opening day Friday and Monday. That's nearly double what Mel Gibson's "The Patriot" made since its opening Wednesday. The Revolutionary War drama earned an estimated $21.7 million, according to Exhibitor Relations Co.
This weekend's other leading man, Bullwinkle J. Moose, couldn't compete with Clooney and Gibson. "The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle" earned about $6.6 million since Friday, putting it in fifth place at the box office. The family feature combined the computer-generated Rocky and Bullwinkle with the live-action Robert DeNiro, Rene Russo and Jason Alexander.
The claymation feature "Chicken Run" brought in $12.8 million in its second week. "Me, Myself and Irene" was fourth with $12 million.
