Bookies Busted In Gambling Raid
Gamblers who placed "March Madness" bets with three area bookmakers will not be cashing in this playoff season.
Their bookies have been busted in a series of gambling raids. Sacramento County(caps) sheriff's deputies arrested three men, Robert Scharf, 76, Fred Leidecker,45, and Fred Jacobsen, 45.
Authorities say they were a small part of a gambling network with ties to an international gambling organization that was housed in an offshore Caribbean location.
In addition to scorebooks and betting ledgers, deputies seized thousands of dollars in cash.
As for the men and women whose names are in these ledgers, authorities won't go after them.
