It's sometimes said that no good deed goes unpunished, and one driver has learned that the hard way.

Ohio Highway Patrol troopers said a car was involved in a crash on U.S. 123 in Warren County Wednesday night, WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reported.

When a passer-by stopped to help, the driver involved in the crash, Robert Hass, stole their car, troopers said.

A chase ensued across two counties, during which the stolen car hit at least two, possibly three, police cruisers before crashing in Clinton County on U.S. 68, troopers said.

The car caught fire after the crash.

Hass, 26, was critically injured in the crash and transported to Miami Valley Hospital.

More information about the theft and chase was expected Thursday.
