While Julia Roberts is enjoying newlywed bliss, another female box-office draw is ending her two-year marriage.
Angelina Jolie told US magazine that she and Billy Bob Thornton have been living apart for four months, and that the couple have not seen each other since June 3.
Jolie filed divorce papers on July 17 in Los Angeles Superior Court, according to the Web site The Smoking Gun. For a look at the divorce papers, click here.
In court papers, Jolie requests that she maintain ownership of miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects and earnings from and after the date of separation.
The couple was married May 5, 2000, in Las Vegas, Nev. It was Jolie's second marriage and Thornton's fifth. Jolie is 27; Thornton is 46.
Jolie is seeking sole custody of Maddox Chivan Thornton Jolie, 11 months old, who the couple adopted from Cambodia.
Jolie has been spending time in Thailand filming her upcoming release "Beyond Borders," a movie set for release in 2003. The movie has had its share of problems. The movie, about a philanthropist (Jolie) and a relief disaster doctor, has had a revolving door in the way of leads.
Kevin Costner dropped out of the lead role because of scheduling conflicts with the filming of the movie "Dragonfly." Ralph Fiennes then stepped in, but dropped out. He's been replaced by Clive Owen. Oliver Stone was originally set to direct, but he has been replaced by Martin Campbell, who directed "Vertical Limit" and "Mask Of Zorro."
In the female lead department, Catherine Zeta-Jones was originally slated to play the female lead, but dropped out in 2000 due to her pregnancy. The movie's producers were in talks with Meg Ryan and reportedly Julia Roberts, but then Jolie was signed on.
The movie wrapped production on May 4.
The grueling schedule and long distance caused by Jolie's making of the movie and Thornton being on the road to nurture his budding singing career and promoting his debut, "Private Radio," contributed to the split.
Jolie's first marriage was to British actor Jonny Lee Miller who she met during her first starring role in 1995's "Hackers." The couple were married in March 1996. The unconventional star opted for black rubber pants instead of a traditional wedding gown and had written the groom's name in her own blood on the back of her shirt. The couple separated less than a year later, and were officially divorced in 1999.
Thornton has been married four times previous to Jolie. He has been quoted as saying that he is "impulsive" when it comes to marriage.
In 1978, he married Melissa Lee Gatlin, but they were divorced in 1980. In 1986, he married Toni Lawrence. They were divorced in 1988. He married Cynda Williams in 1990 and the two appeared together in the film "One False Move." They divorced in 1992. He met Pietra Dawn Cherniak in February 1993 outside an Italian restaurant in West Hollywood. According to Billybobthornton.net, he told Cherniak, "I guess there's not a snowball's chance in hell I could get your phone number,' " she remembers. "At first I didn't understand him, he had a big southern drawl." She took his number instead. A year later they were married. They were officially divorced in 1997.
Meanwhile, Jolie is reportedly set to being filming the second installment of the Lara Croft movies. Filming will begin Aug. 26, according to film Web site IGN.com.
" 'Lara Croft and the Cradle of Life (the title is tentative) kicks off production in England, Africa, and possibly China, if the Chinese government will allow it. This time, it's East meets West as Lara squares off against a Chinese crime syndicate led by a villainous Chinaman named Chen Lo. Lo is said to be a savvy businessman, an urbane entrepreneur, and a cold-blooded killer," the Web site stated.
Thornton, when not on the road, is reportedly in Memphis, Tenn., working on another album.
The quirky 34-year-old Smith will receive $88 milllion from her late billionaire husband if the final appeal of her inheritance case rules in her favor. The show is expected to debut on Aug. 4 on E! for 13 episodes. The show will put Smith through a number of interesting paces including helping her to lose some weight from her 200-pound frame and getting her a driver's license.
We'll also get a chance to peek in at her parenting skills for her son, Daniel, 16, who is reluctant to appear on the show.
Other stars who hope to have a shot at reviving their celebrity via reality television include Cybill Shepherd, Courtney Love, Gene Simmons and O.J. Simpson houseboy, Kato Kaelin, who is shopping around his own show "House Guest" to TV executives.

No Kiss For Bond From Madonna
Canada's National Post newspaper is reporting that Madonna has filmed her cameo role as a fencing instructor in the new Bond film "Die Another Day," in which the singer also performs the lead song. The Post reports that the latest rumor about Madonna's role is that when she learned that she was the only female character in the movie that doesn't get cozy with Bond, she suggested that her character be rewritten as a lesbian. That would make the first lesbian Bond girl in 007 history, the Post reveals.Happy Birthday, Tom Hanks

The celebration began with a screening of the movie at the Ziegfeld Theater. Director Sam Mendes flew in from London for the event with Kate Winslet in tow.Celebrity Q&A:
