Lomi Lomi Massage Releases Trapped Energy
Hawaiian Massage Known As 'Loving Hands'

You've most likely heard of Swedish massage, deep tissue sports massage, and maybe even Reiki and reflexology. Now there's another type of massage to heal the body, and it dates back to Hawaiian tradition.
In the calm beauty of Hawaii, a traditional Lomi Lomi massage gets under way.
"I let my hands and my arms talk to me, and they talk to whoever I'm massaging," Lomi Lomi masseuse Mark Kauluokane Saito said.
Lomi Lomi starts with a soothing touch. Then shifts to much more.
"It is truly like lovemaking because it is an incredible balance between when you want somebody to be strong and when you want them to be gentle," Saito said.
Lomi Lomi is also known as loving hands. It uses long, flowing strokes followed by deep penetration down to the bone to release trapped energy. Masseuses like Saito move that trapped energy from the central part of the body out to the extremities.
The Hawaiian belief is the massage treats the whole body, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. The rhythmic pressure of the forearms powered by the whole body gives the feeling of waves crashing over the person.
"The Lomi Lomi massage is designed to move the internal fluids in the blood," Saito said.
There is a focus on joints where energy can get blocked. In the end, the energy is sealed within the body. Though it looks painful, people say the result is worth it.
"It's a good kind of pain, where you know that after he's done, your body will just feel so good," said one of Saito's customers.
And in the end, harmony is returned to the body.
Practitioners in the continental United States are now starting to practice Lomi Lomi massage. Prices are about the same as other massages.
