A 34-year-old woman was so drunk that she passed out in the drive-through of a Novi Taco Bell early Sunday, police said.

The South Lyon woman fell asleep when she stopped next to the speaker to place her order, police said.

When customers began to complain that they had to go around her, restaurant employees called police.

Novi police were dispatched to the restaurant at 3:19 a.m. Sunday and found the woman sleeping. They said she still had her foot on the brake, and her car was in drive.

Officers put the woman's vehicle in park and tried to wake her.

When the woman woke up, she told police that she had just gotten off work, but she didn’t know where she was, police said.

Officers said they smelled alcohol and administered two sobriety tests. The first time she registered a 0.19 percent and the second time she blew a 0.18 percent, police said.

Police said the woman was drinking at a bar outside of Novi before she stopped at the Taco Bell.

She was arrested and charged with driving while impaired.
