Ellen Burstyn -- 'Requiem For A Dream'
Ellen Burstyn -- "Requiem For A Dream"
Many moviegoers remember Ellen Burstyn for her Oscar award-winning title role in "Alice Doesn?t Live Here Anymore." She also played the mother of head-spinning teenage Linda Blair in the classic "Exorcist." Her role this year as a diet-pill addicted mother in "Requiem" parallels her psychological breakdown with her son?s (played by Jared Leto) ultimate destruction from drug abuse. Director Darren Aronofsky?s third film gave Burstyn a brutal and vivid role to portray. In her late 60s, Burstyn is considered one of Hollywood?s finest actresses. She currently stars on the CBS series "That?s Life," playing a New Jersey mom who hopes her 30-something daughter will find a husband. Burstyn studied with Lee Strasberg in the '60s, and in older films, you will see her listed as Ellen McRae.
