PLEA DEALWilbanks has made a plea deal. She's been sentenced to probation, community service and fines. In exchange, prosecutors dropped a misdemeanor charge of filing a false police report. Wilbanks pleaded no contest to a felony charge of making a false statement to police. She was sentenced to 2 years probation and 120 hours community service. Wilbanks must pay the local sheriff's office $2,550. The judge has ordered her to continue mental health treatment. If she successfully completes treatment, the felony will be erased from her record. REIMBURSEMENTWilbanks agreed to pay $13,250 to the city of Duluth, Ga. That's for overtime the city paid during a search for her. ORIGINAL CHARGESWilbanks was charged with making a false statement and making a false police report. She could have faced six years in prison and $11,000 in fines if convicted of both charges. BIOJennifer Wilbanks is 32 years old. Wilbanks is a nurse. She is a former high school cheerleader and track runner. THE WEDDINGWas set for Saturday April 30. Some 600 guests were invited. There were 14 bridesmaids and 14 groomsmen. DISAPPEARANCEWilbanks' fiance, John Mason, reported her missing April 26. Police, family and friends launched a largescale search for her. Meanwhile, Wilbanks had taken a bus to Las Vegas and then Albuquerque, N.M. She initially claimed she'd been kidnapped but she later recanted. Wilbanks said she fled because of unspecified personal issues before the wedding.
