Darva Conger's Mother Found

Susan Harrison Contacted Friend 12 Hours After Disappearance

Darva Conger's mother turned up in the Los Angeles area more than 12 hours after her daughter reported her missing.

Susan Harris, the 62-year-old mom of the millionaire TV bride and Playboy playmate, was last seen Thursday at the Los Angeles County Museum of Arts in the Mid-Wilshire district of Los Angeles, authorities said.

The former actress called a friend Friday morning who then contacted Conger, Ventura County Sheriff's Sgt. Steve Bourke told reporters.

Sheriff's Capt. Rick Hindman told reporters that the missing-persons report was filed in Ventura County Thursday because it is the closest law enforcement agency to Harrison's home.

Harrison and Conger share a house in Thousands Oaks, Calif.

Local news reports indicate that Harrison told her daughter that she was lost near the museum and feeling disoriented.

Authorities said that Harrison's whereabouts during the time she was reported missing were not known.

"We haven't had a chance to talk to Ms. Harrison. When we do, we'll determine whether there was any criminal involvement, and if not, the case will be closed," Bourke said.

Harrison co-starred in the 1957 movie "Sweet Smell of Success" opposite Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis. She also appeared in episodes of "The Twilight Zone," "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" and "Bonanza."

Harrison's husband, Cass Conger, died last year. She has five children -- four sons and daughter Darva.

Conger first gained notoriety in February when she married a stranger on national television. She filed for annulment from comedian Rick Rockwell a month later.

This summer, a naked pictorial of the former emergency-room nurse appeared in Playboy. She said that the "Who Wants to Marry a Multi-Millionaire" scandal made it impossible for her to get hired as a nurse.
