La Dolce Vita In Reno
19th Annual Great Italian Festival Kicks Off After Columbus Day Parade
The festivities begin Saturday outside the Eldorado Hotel and Casino, after the Columbus Day parade marches through downtown Reno.
Stroll the streets and sample spaghetti sauces, sausage and peppers, risotto, chicken, polenta and gelato, among other dishes.
Activities include a grape stomp, a spaghetti sauce cookoff and spaghetti-eating contest, Italian food booths, a two-day bocce ball tournament and live entertainment -- from musical groups and magicians to jugglers and pizza tossers. Dick Contino, one of the finest accordion players around, will add to the festive atmosphere with his authentic sound.
On Saturday and Sunday evenings, a gourmet Italian buffet will be served in the Eldorado's Convention Center in the Chef's Buffet.
There will be plenty of activities for the kids as well. Head over to the Wells Fargo Children's Activity Center for clown-face painting, a gelato-eating contest and cool rides and games.
Continue the night in style with Tony Bennett at the Silver Legacy Resort and Casino.
