Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!
Greetings from the winter wonderland. If I were a kid, this would be the greatest day ever -- big, soft flakes of pure white snow, and temperatures warm enough to enjoy them -- you know, above 0 degrees.
But, alas, I have to drive in that stuff. It kinda takes the "wonder" out of "winter wonderland" -- it's just "winter land" to me.
I know this is holiday time -- right between two of the biggest U.S. holidays -- but that doesn't mean you guys can slack off. I expect answers from all the usuals, and then some. Hey, I'm a new personality on the Netcam circuit. That should come with new followers, right?
OK, enough rambling. On to this week's Netcam. This looks about as gray as it is in my neck of the woods, but not nearly as cold. Anyone brave enough to guess before I give any substantial hints?
Edd apologizes profusely for the difficulty of last week's cam. Apparently the cam he chose moved after he posted it -- so it wasn't to be found on our list. So kudos to those who guessed right.
The answer was McCall, Idaho. The "killer" sports star he referred to was Harmon Killebrew, and the oddly named Street was Picabo Street -- both from Idaho. The elusive "forever" clue was in reference to the state motto: "It is forever."
The winners were: Joleen Johnson of Tacoma, Wash.; Maggie Rioux, MBL/WHOI Library, Woods Hole, Mass.; and Suzy.
Though this place looks kind of gloomy, it stays relatively warm here. No, it's not touching an ocean; the water you see here has the same name as the countryside it's running though. The city was the home of two of today's most famous politicians -- maybe more, but two for sure.
OK, that's enough. In case I didn't already give it away, the cam is listed on our Netcam list somewhere -- so enough digging will unearth it.
E-mail me with your guesses -- the three quickest correct answers will be hailed in next week's column.
