NEW YORK, 11:59 a.m. EST March 21, 2001 -- NBC made history last week--but not the kind that any network wants to make.
Its XFL football game on Saturday scored a 1.6 rating, which ties the record for the lowest-ever prime-time night among the "big three" networks. It dragged down NBC's entire prime-time rating and caused the network to finish third for the week.
The XFL game didn't fare much better on UPN, another network that broadcasts the league's games. It was that network's lowest-rated show for the week.
A Nielsen ratings point represents 1,022,000 households, or 1 percent of the nation's estimated 102.2 million TV homes.
