'Hollow' Character, Great Special Effects

"Hollow Man" is another film title that the producers should have thought twice about.

Jay Carr in the Boston Globe comments that the move "leaves an empty feeling," and goes on to observe: "'Hollow Man' is an invisible man movie that should have been an inaudible man movie. Every time the characters open their mouths, they hammer it deeper into the ground."

Likewise, Kenneth Turan in the Los Angeles Times remarks: "Maybe it's inevitable, given its name, but the most remarkable thing about 'Hollow Man' is how insubstantial it is."

Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times says that it's really "too bad" about the script, "because the movie is supported by some of the most intriguing special effects I've seen."

And Steve Murray in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution agrees, writing, "The only reason to see 'Hollow Man' is to check out the computer-generated effects.

"Yes, you will believe there's an invisible man onscreen. You just won't be very interested in him."
