Flutie signed the deal Friday and then held a news conference (see video from our network affiliate, KGTV in San Diego). No financial terms of the contract were made available.

Flutie will step into the starting job vacated when Ryan Leaf was released last week.

The 5-foot-10 Flutie was immensely popular in Buffalo for the past three seasons, where he racked up a 21-9 record as a starter. He was cut by the Bills last week when they decided to give their starting job to backup Rob Johnson.
