XFL And Ventura May Split

League Unhappy With Governor's Performance

MINNEAPOLIS, 4:00 p.m. EST March 15, 2001 -- Those unhappy with Gov. Jesse Ventura's role as a commentator with the XFL football league may soon see an end to the partnership.

Ventura's days as the voice of the XFL may be numbered, according to an article in the Los Angles Times.

XFL founder Vince McMahon reportedly told the paper that Ventura was "on thin ice."

McMahon said that Ventura was too over-the-top as a commentator and that research shows that fans dislike Ventura's delivery.

Ventura is a little past midway in a 12-week stint as a paid color commentator for the new pro-football league.

The league's ratings have crashed since its debut earlier this year.
