Surprising New Makeup Tricks

Want to learn some new makeup tips? Good Housekeeping's beauty editors have some great (and unusual) expert tricks to share.

For tired-looking eyes, lightly shade the area just above the arch of your brow with white liner. This will lighten your face and make it look like you have higher eyebrows and eyelids. To make your eyeliner last longer, wet the brush with Visine first.

This may come as a surprise, but your ring finger is best for applying makeup because it's your weakest. If you use your index finger, you might apply color too boldly or tug too much on your skin (which could lead to wrinkles).

When you're choosing a new shade of lipstick, don't run it across the back of your hand. Instead, test it on your fingertip, so you can hold the color up to your face and see how it looks.

Finally, scrub your lips with a toothbrush. This will help exfoliate any dry skin and let your lipstick glide on without caking.
