Site Goes Beyond 'Buffy, Vampire Slayer'

About The Webmaster:

I am a 15 year old high school student from Madison. I live with my mom, dad and brother. I don't have a steady job, but I do occasional babysitting and am currently designing another site for a business. I love spending my free time surfing the 'Net!

When did you start your Web site?

I got the space on the Web and started learning HTML sometime around December of 1998. I got my site ready for viewing, however, in February of 1999.

How would you describe your site?

My site is a basic "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" site with a comedic twist. Everything is based on the farm idea, so the visitors can have fun as well as learn about the show.

Who comes to your site? What kind of information can you get from your site?

Virtually everybody who comes to my site is a "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" fan. They come to my site to get information about the actors in the show and names of the episodes, links to other Buffy sites, play games, read fan fiction and take a quiz.

What kind of software did you use to create the page?

I didn't use any software, I created it all from the Angelfire site. It was a lot more work this way, but it's worth it to see how all the hard work payed off.

How did you learn how to create a Web site? When did you get interested in the Internet?

When I started making my site, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. I spent most of my time going to sites that had HTML guides, as well as e-mailing other site creators who were willing to teach me.

I got interested in the Internet late last summer. At first, I just started with e-mail and checking out sites I'd heard about. Then I decided to give it a try myself.

Future plans:

I'm not sure if I plan to keep making Web sites. I am currently working on a site for a business, which I can use as a reference if I ever do decide to keep doing this. Even if I don't continue to make Web sites, I will always be interested in the Internet.

What gave you the idea of starting a Web site on this topic?

I am an avid fan of "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer," and I've always enjoyed looking at other people's sites. When I decided to make a Web site on my own, I thought that Buffy would be a good topic, because I knew it so well.

What are some of your favorite sites:

I always like looking at other people's Buffy sites to compare them to mine and get some ideas. I especially like going to the really popular sites to see what it is they have that makes their sites so great.

Do you have any advice for someone who'd like to start his or her own Web site?

Before anyone starts making a web site, they should at least learn general HTML. There are tons of sites out there that specialize in teaching HTML, and there are always site makers who are willing to help. After that, work hard, tell a lot of people, and have fun with it!
