Texas is home to many great places to eat. Here are five of the most interesting options.

Kerbey Lane Cafe (Austin)

The "Keep Austin Weird" mentality is an ongoing focus of Kerbey Lane Cafe. In fact, they proudly state that on their Web site. But, that isn't what's unique about Kerbey Lane Cafe. This Austin restaurant makes it a mission to support local farmers and give back to the community.

All menu items are all-natural and come from only local suppliers. There are menu items for meat-eaters and vegetarians alike; even those of the vegan variety will find something they're sure to like. Keeping up with the home and community spirit, the furniture is homemade and the recipes are family traditions.

Alamo Springs Cafe (Fredericksburg)

The Alamo Springs Cafe just outside of Fredericksburg is said to have the "best burger in Texas." This unique and remote restaurant is located right near a bat cave. Some refer to it as being in the middle of nowhere but well worth the trip.

The down-home Texas atmosphere, great food, and live music on certain nights all combine to make for a relaxing dining experience. In fact, it's so laid back here that customers are welcome to grab their own beer from the giant walk-in fridge. If you're looking for a place to jut sit back, relax and enjoy the Texas spirit, Alamo Springs Cafe is the place to go.

Aquarium Restaurant (Kemah)

The Aquarium Restaurant is interesting for a few reasons. Its very location on the Kemah boardwalk is an attraction in itself. The food is also exceptional. But the most interesting part of the Aquarium Restaurant is the extremely large floor-to-ceiling aquarium that can be viewed from every table while dining. Kids and adults will enjoy watching all the beautiful species of fish. Educational tours and birthday parties also are available.

Billy Bob's Texas (Dallas)

Like many fine establishments in the great state of Texas, Billy Bob's Texas focuses on barbecue. But Billy Bob's is more than just a great barbecue restaurant. It's actually a stockyard and known as "the world's largest honky-tonk." Here you can take dance lessons, attend concerts, buy souvenirs, gamble at the casino, schedule group meetings and events (including weddings), and even experience bull riding. Families are welcome in many areas.

The Udder Place (Deer Park)

If you like cows, then you'll be udderly impressed with The Udder Place. The black and white cow theme is repeated throughout the establishment. The menu is your typical diner menu, but with a Texas-style country flair. Burgers, chicken-fried steak, catfish, shrimp, hot dogs and more are offered. One of the most interesting menu items is the Udder Burger, which is a full 4 pounds of meat. It's described on the menu as a burger for two because of its size.
