Vegas Q&A: Where Is Best Place To Find Specials?

Question: When do the major hotels announce their summer specials? Plus, which hotel Web sites tend to have the best pricing for Vegas hotels?

Answer: Most of the major hotels start announcing their seasonal specials toward the end of the season before. For instance, it's just been within the last few weeks that I've started to see all of the spring promotions popping up.

The best way to stay on top of these kinds of deals is to sign up for the various hotel players' clubs. They'll keep you up to date with all the latest specials. If you can't actually get to the hotels, go to the hotel Web sites and register there (often by signing a "guest book").

You can also get a copy of the Los Angeles Times Sunday edition, which is available at newsstands all over the country. Toward the back of the Calendar section is a special Vegas advertising section that will show you what everyone is doing in the coming weeks.

In terms of hotel reservations sites, I'm partial to the one on Vegas4Visitors.com. You can get information about the various hotels and then book a room directly through my site. It's a good resource -- you can sometimes save a few bucks or find rooms available when other people are telling you they are sold out.

But your best resource is probably to visit the sites for each hotel. The properties are pushing these really hard right now, since they have discovered it saves them money if you book on the Internet, so they are passing some of that savings on to you to get you to use it. That's where I'm finding the best bargains these days.
