Dare To Be Dull, Men
Web Site Lets Dull Men Be Themselves
POSTED: 3:30 pm CDT June 14, 2007
Dull men, are you out there? Of course you are. You are the unassuming ones in the room, and you like it that way just fine. You have no interest in making a bold statement or fighting for a cause. (Tree-hugging is definitely out!)For all the dull men out there, the online Dull Men's Club is for you. It's a Web site where self-proclaimed dull men can go and just be themselves. They can cyber-mingle with other dull men and share their experiences and thoughts. And there's no pressure to be hip, happening, rad, hot, off the chain, or any other of the trendy adjectives that don't include them.Dull men like to keep it simple. What may be boring and mundane to some is enjoyably ordinary to them. But let's not misunderstand -- they don't consider themselves boring in the least.According to the Web site, "Dull men accept their dullness. Boring men are dull men who actually believe that they are interesting."It also says, "Dull men tend to be introverts. A boring man is an extroverted dull man."The site includes such distractions as cartoons, book reviews, jokes and collections (think postcards or hotel soap, just to name a couple). It even has a section called "Safe Excitement."But what about the inevitable question about why women aren't included in the Dull Men's Club?"Our view is that women are not dull," members said in a statement on the site. "Women are exciting. Moreover, we think women would be offended if we said they were dull ... that it would be politically incorrect to refer to women as being dull."It's OK to be dull. The Dull Men's Club says so.
