The new line of automobiles will be hitting showrooms shortly, but some companies prefer to showcase their new cars online.
One company that is attempting to make a splash on this side of the Pond is using a Web site that is fun and has fun. It is a tiny car, but it makes a big impression on the Internet. MiniUSA.com starts out with four different homepages, each with a different feel and sound. Drums, bees, matchsticks or boxing gloves offer an entry point into the world of the British-made auto. As each page loads, a little tidbit or slogan pops up to entertain you while the graphics load. "Let's build smaller parking spaces and bigger parks" plays on the small size of the car and their overall feeling of ecology.
"Keep in mind. Automobiles were created to advance civilization" greets the user as it details the unique features of the car. Each page doesn't merely pop-up, but zooms off and on the screen. Click on the car and you are given the whole story and a clear picture of a highlighted part. Want to build your own? You can. "The SUV backlash begins" and the users can add whatever features they want. Change the color, change the engine, add an American flag roof, build your dream car! Selecting "Find A Dealer" reveals something new! A Frisbee flies through the screen and lands on the page. A click and a Mini Production (ok, it is a commercial) plays. They are funny and worth watching. This company is serious about selling their cars and they are serious about having fun. But they want you to do something other than stick around on their site. I'm not going to give it away, but you'll get a special message if you stay on their site for a while.Even if you aren't ready to get a Mini Cooper, jumping around their site is worth the time. Read every page and you will find yourself chuckling at a phrase or two.As they say, "Motor On!"
