Need help finding a good restaurant in town? How about an idea for a night out?

Citysearch.com is the place to be to find local places to go -- from restaurant and spas, to hotels and retail shops.

And for those who are wary of places they've never patronized, the site offers information and user reviews and ratings to help people decide where to spend their time and money.

With the acquisition of Insider Pages, a Web site that gives recommendations on local businesses, Citysearch boasts more than 600,000 user reviews, with ratings on more than 2 million locations across the country.

Citysearch has information for venues in just about all major U.S. cities, so frequent travelers can feel informed even if they aren't familiar with the area they are visiting.

"Citysearch is the essential urban companion for living bigger, better and smarter in your city," the Web site said. "We keep you connected to the most popular and undiscovered places wherever you are."

And now, Citysearch has gone a step further, offering a beta version -- Beta.citysearch.com -- that adds social and mobile capabilities.

It has added Facebook Connect, allowing users to log into Citysearch using their Facebook account. Users can share reviews with friends online and get feedback about their neighborhood and favorite local spots.

Mobile by Citysearch includes an interface tailored to each individual mobile device, allowing the user to search on the go.

"Citysearch is ahead of the curve in terms of what's next for user-generated content within the local space -- effectively marrying that content with other distinct voices and the user's social graph," Matt Booth, senior vice president of The Kelsey Group, said in a prepared statement.
